Using an intersectional approach to advocate for the agency, education, and empowerment of women-identified students.
We are part of the Centers for Advocacy and Student Engagement (CASE), a collective effort to educate, connect resources and develop programming that advocates for all students, ourselves, and each other in order to impact change at structural, institutional, and systemic levels.
The members of CASE include the Inclusive Excellence Center (IEC), Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer Plus Resource Center (LGBTQ+RC), Military and Veteran’s Resource Center (MAVRC), and the Women’s Resources Center (WRC). Each of these Centers serve students by creating spaces, programs and resources that support each student’s journey through UWM.
CASE Shared Values:
- Advocate for Students – Work to engage and uplift the voices of underrepresented, marginalized and minoritized student communities at UWM.
- Create an Affirming Environment – Through programming, services, education, and policies, CASE members foster a sense of belonging and community accountability advancing systemic change.
- Care – Creating a respectful, compassionate, trusting environment that celebrates success and fosters the health and well-being of the collective staff to better serve our students.

“Women’s Resource Center.” What does that mean?
The WRC centers women, but is open to people of all genders. The WRC efforts are not meant to be exclusionary, as our defining of “women” includes multiple identities (including but not limited to those who identify as cis, trans) femme, non-binary and gender expansive. We also understand that women experience gender-based marginalization, and that this marginalization is compounded by other intersecting identities. The WRC is intended for those who self-identify as women (cis and trans) and all who have lived experience of misogyny as well as non-binary people.
